This privacy policy applies to the Storylang app for iOS and macOS.
Storylang has no accounts, no ads, no trackers and no analytics SDKs. We do not sell or share any data. The only data that ever leaves your device is the text needed to answer your own requests (for example a word you want translated), and it is not stored on our servers.
Words and text you ask about. When you use an AI feature — translating a word, explaining grammar, asking about a passage, getting a recap or a book overview — the app sends the relevant text (the word, its sentence, or a passage from the book you are reading) together with your chosen languages to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate the answer. This data is used only to produce the answer and is not stored by us. Anthropic processes it according to their commercial API data policy (API inputs are not used to train models).
Book analysis. When you download or import a book, its chapters are sent to the same service to build reading aids (chapter summaries, character lists). The books in the Free Books catalog are public-domain works.
Crash reports. If the app crashes, an anonymous technical crash report (stack trace, app version, OS version — generated by Apple’s MetricKit) is sent to our server at the next launch and deleted after 30 days. It contains no personal information and nothing you have read or typed.
Everything else: your library, reading positions, saved words, word lists, practice history and settings are stored only on your device. We cannot see them.
Name, email, location, contacts, identifiers, usage analytics, advertising data. There is nothing to sell and nothing to leak.
